1 Year Ago Today

One year ago today, Mark joined Caroline at the Academy of McKay's Mill for a Thanksgiving celebration lunch.  She was in a great mood - sharing in the excitement and running around with all of her school friends!  Just 2 short hours after the picture below was taken, we received a call from the school that Caroline was screaming in pain and inconsolable.  He immediately went back to the school, picked her up, and took her to the local Urgent Care...what happened over the course of the next 3 days changed our lives forever.

The anticipation of this week, and the one year mark, has been gravely hanging over our heads for a little while. Today is a very difficult day for us emotionally, but we love this kid as much as anyone can love anyone or anything, and we just wanted to share with everyone that we are so thankful, and blessed that she was given to us.  WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF HER for her amazing, fighting spirit!  We love you, Caroline.

Such Proud Parents,
Mark and Margaret

Tuesday before Thanksgiving...2017 and 2018.

  1. Sweet Caroline! She’s had quite a year but her spirit is strong. Many more happy thanksgiving to come!

  2. Wow...so many emotions with anniversaries. So thankful for the amazing parents you are and how you have persevered through the excruciating and unimaginable pain that comes with all that has been thrown at you over the course of a year. Love you guys and continuing to pray for your little relentless fighter!!

  3. Caroline sure has grown a lot this past year in so many ways. She is such an inspiration to me and I am sure to others as they read about her amazing courage and spirit during this year. May God continue to bless you and watch over your family.

  4. I got teary reading this. I remember Dan walking slowly into the kitchen and hanging me his phone. The look on his face...It was then I took the phone and read Mark’s text, and cried. Dan just stood there stoic in disbelief. Wow...what a year. We continue to send our prayers every day from Bawmer for this little Warrior and her family. Love you guys.

  5. That's incredible how a day can change in a matter of a couple hours! Caroline is blessed to have you both as parents to ensure that she is receiving the best care possible. Praying that these rounds of infusion will kill off all of the cancer!
